Next Nite

Joe was putting his things at his post, and he saw his boss in his boss's window, of his office, and Joe waved. His boss realized Joe didn't have any new information. Joe had plenty of time on his way in to stop, and get his thermos filled with hot, fresh coffee, a sandwich, chips, and a dessert. This time the dessert was an apple pie, with cinnamon swirl, and icing. Mary said it was one of her favorites! She had even hinted about the dance to Joe, he knew it was a very good sign. So he was excited. Joe sat down, start of his new shift. He checked the monitors everything was ok. Then he looked a little closer he did see something. Then he wiped the monitors a little, and now they were smeared, and dirty. So he went to the bathroom, and he retrieved some paper towel from the bathroom. He was able to wipe the monitors clean. He noticed a piece of paper to the side of the monitors it was folded up. So he unfolded the note. It read HA! HA!, if you're going to see UFOs, I figured I'd put one on your monitor!, Ralphie, also there was a big smiley face. Ralphie was on the shift before Joe. Joe thought to himself very funny. Joe knew there was proof so he wasn't worried, he also knew Ralphie was a good friend of his, and he was only messing around. Joe spotted his boss starting to leave, and he went to tell his boss, not to get Ralphie in trouble, but he knew his boss would find it amusing. His boss had worked the post for many years as well, and had his fair share of prankster co-workers as well. Before Joe could really say anything his boss said, "I have to run", then he showed Joe a gift box, and said, "I'm off to a birthday party." So Joe said, "ok." Then his boss left. Joe sat at his post, checked the monitors, everything was fine, especially since there wasn't any debris on them now, and he smiled, and said to himself, "UFO!" It was now time for Joe to go on his walk through. He wasn't too thrilled since it was just starting to rain on his way in. There had been a drought, so Joe knew the rain was needed, so that was good. He was still looking for more evidence though, and he figured the rain would hinder his visibility, and he was worried he would not get to see anything. He was opening the door, and he immediately noticed a very, very, fowl smell, and he just couldn't believe his eyes as he opened the door! Then, just then, he heard the phone ring at his post. When the phone rings, and he is away form his post, an answering machine receives the call, but after what he saw he closed the door, and ran for the phone. He wanted to tell someone about what he just saw. He reached the phone, and he picked it up, he was just about to tell what he saw, when the voice said, "Would you like to take part in our survey?" He thought, survey?!, do you know what I just saw out the door! Then he just said politely, "no thank you", and he hung up the phone. Then he ran back over to the door, and opened it. What he saw was still there, and he couldn't believe his eyes. It was a light rain, there were many separate puddles of glowing purple puddles, with golden rings emanating from each one, and there were also night time rainbows, that were many different neon colors, and one rainbow went from a purple puddle up, and then arched down to another purple puddle, and the night time rainbows were connecting each purple puddle together. The light rain was glowing in many different neon colors as well. Joe had noticed it was happening in a very large area. He realized he hadn't seen this till now, since there wasn't any rain for awhile. He went back to his post, after closing the door. He looked on the monitors he only saw the yard as it always was. He ran back to the door, and it had stopped raining. The ground was still wet, but everything else was back to normal. So he checked it on the recording, and that didn't show anything either. So he decided to only tell the professor about this, that was if he ever sees the professor again. Joe checked the monitors, everything was ok, then he did his walk through, and everything was fine. Joe was back at his post, and he looked on his monitors, everything was still fine. It was time for Joe to do another walk through. He checked the monitors, and he went on his walk through. He turned the corner, and out of the shadows, a figure appeared. It was a young guy from the area. He was a notorious trouble maker. Joe was surprised by him, but Joe didn't let it show since Joe is a professional. The guy was excited to tell Joe what he saw, and Joe realized he saw what Joe saw. Joe was happy to have another eyewitness. He told the guy not to tell anyone else though, especially since there wasn't a recording of what they both saw. So the guy said that was fine, he didn't think anyone would believe him anyway. The guy left, and Joe continued his walk through. Joe was just about done with his walk through, when he noticed shadows on the ground, so he immediately looked up, and there were millions of multicolored glowing specs. They were flying off of all of the roof tops, and gently swirling up into the sky. Joe stepped back, he couldn't believe his eyes. In a few minutes everything was gone. He quickly finished his walk through. He was now back at his post. He checked the recordings still no sign of what he saw. He had so much wanted to find the professor. He wanted to know more, if that was even possible. Joe thought of a hunter friend of his, he realized he was more of a naturist, just hiking mainly, in the woods, not really hunting. As far as Joe knew the fella didn't ever get anything. Which was ironic, since his name was Hunter. He was given the name, since his father was a great hunter, but Hunter, who did possess the great abilities of his father, just seemed to enjoy nature, and all it's wondrous beauty. Even though this being the case, Joe knew Hunter would be a great guide, and a very good friend to be with. So Joe thought maybe the two of them could start where the professor disappeared, and look for him, even if they had to venture deep into the woods. Joe enjoyed his lunch, dessert, and coffee, very much. Especially since Mary had made some of it. Joe kept a keen eye on the monitors, everything was clear. The rest of his shift went well. He did start keeping his own log book, so he could have his own record of the strange findings as well. He was hoping all of this would end, especially without the professor's insight, but he had also hoped he would continue to be ok, if it didn't!
